The factory air conditioning in a VDJ 70 Series is limited by the stock AC amplifier, which restricts the evaporator temperature to around 6 to 7 degrees. In the middle of an Australian summer, that is not cold enough. The Freezebrain AC Amplifier is a plug and play replacement that drops the evaporator temperature by a solid 5 degrees, letting you dial the AC all the way down to 1 degree for genuinely cold air when you need it most. If you have ever sat in your 70 Series on a 40 degree day wondering why the air con feels like it is barely trying, this is the fix.
Plug and Play Installation in Minutes
The Freezebrain replaces the factory AC amplifier that sits behind the passenger side speaker. Installation is as simple as unbolting a small panel, unclipping the factory unit, sliding it out, and sliding the Freezebrain in. It is 100% plug and play with no cutting, no splicing, and no rewiring. All your stock AC controls and functionality are retained, so nothing changes about how you operate the air con other than the fact that it actually gets cold. The Freezebrain also includes diagnostic LEDs to help identify air con faults and an idle control switch that keeps the idle speed slightly elevated even when the compressor is off, which is useful for maintaining alternator charge at idle when running accessories.

Compatible With VDJ V8 70 Series Models
The Freezebrain AC Amplifier is engineered for the VDJ V8 diesel and GRJ V6 petrol 70 Series models from 2007 to 2023. It fits the 76 Wagon, 78 Troop Carrier, and 79 Series single cab and dual cab. It is not compatible with the HZJ 1HZ models or the GDJ 2.8L four cylinder facelift models. The unit replaces the factory part number 88650 60G20 on right hand drive vehicles.
